On May 30, the RA NA President Ara Babloyan received the newly elected Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to Armenia Vincenzo del Monaco.

Congratulating the Ambassador Ara Babloyan expressed hope that he would give new impetus with his activities to the relations of the Armenian-Italian centuries-old history.

The RA NA President touched upon the development of the bilateral parliamentary relations, in this issue highlighting the cooperation of the Friendship Groups functioning in the legislative bodies.

Underlining that Italy is an important partner for Armenia, Ara Babloyan has expressed hope that the ratification of Armenia-European Union Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, which can also promote the development and strengthening of bilateral relations, will not delay.

Talking about the recent events happened in Armenia the Head of the parliament said: “The protection of human rights, the development of democracy and the security of state are important for us. We will support all the programmes of the government which will be aimed at the development of the country.”

Touching upon the problem of the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Ara Babloyan noted that democratic Artsakh could not be part of authoritarian Azerbaijan. According to him, the problem should be settled around the negotiation table through peaceful means.

Thanking for the warm reception, Vincenzo del Monaco assured that he would do his best to further deepen and strengthen the bilateral friendly traditional relations. The Ambassador emphasized the atmosphere of mutual understanding in the inner-political life of Armenia.

With regards to the role of the Italian-Armenian community, the sides have underscored that the Armenians promote the development of the public, political, economic and cultural life of Italy and have great contribution to the enhancement of the Armenian-Italian relations.

The interlocutors stated the positive development of the bilateral trade-economic relations in recent years, stressing the current non used potential.
